Storage space – RediffmailPro

Storage space - RediffmailProQ How do I  manage storage space for my users in RediffmailPro?

One of the most salient feature of is transfer of storage space between users of RediffmailPro having same mailbox size license (also referred as mailbox size SKU). However, managing mailbox size quota could be time consuming and tedious task. Some users have ever increasing requirement for more storage space while others hardly consume the space allocated to them. Shuffling of storage space between users having same mailbox size licence can be tiresome. Our new feature to be introduced in admin panel will help in managing the space efficiently within your domain.
We have automated the process for shuffling of storage space between users of RediffmailPro. As an admin you can set the space quota management on automatic or manual mode.

·       Automatic mode: Every night, system identifies the users consuming more than 90% of the allocated storage  space. For these users, system then automatically allocates additional space by borrowing it from additional storage purchased or from the users with same mailbox size licence, having less consumption. In this mode, allocated mailbox quota is not enforced on any user. System will distribute additional space to all users nearing their mailbox size limits. If the system is not able to redistribute the space to required users, it will sent an alert to your admin ID.

·    Manual mode: You can specify the users from whom space needs to borrowed and assign it to another user. In this mode, user’s allocated mailbox quota does not increase as and when he requires additional storage space.

With this, there will be some changes in sections currently seen in admin panel:

  Add & Remove Space under Single user management will be removed similarly Add & Remove bulk space section under Bulk user management will also be removed.

  New Section will be added under ‘Single user management -> Manage space’ and ‘Bulk user management -> Manage bulk space’. Henceforth user space management should be done from these links.

In order to incorporate this change, we have made some improvements in current add/edit bulk users modules as well as allocated space quota of existing users. While creating the users in bulk, it is now mandatory to specify the mailbox size license as purchased instead of required allocated space quota. Thus, user’s space quota will be same as mailbox size license at the time of creation. For ex. if user A has been allocated a mailbox size license of 1GB then the initial space quota for user A will be 1GB. You can subsequently reshuffle this allocated space quota with another user of same mailbox size license i.e 1GB using automated or manual quota management options. Same changes would be applied to existing users also and their allocated space would reset to their mailbox size license.
In near future, we are also going to introduce mail alert system to keep users informed on their space consumption as well as periodic updates on overall space consumption to admins
